Zidane film joins the arts

From Bloomberg:

Douglas Gordon and Phillipe Parreno are visual artists known for using moving images in their work (Gordon once slowed down Hitchcock’s “Psycho” to make it last 24 hours). So it’s little surprise that “Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait”, featuring French soccer star Zinedine Zidane — is far from a straight sports film.

During a match between Zidane’s Real Madrid club and league rival Villareal, 17 cameras ignored much of the action and focused exclusively on Zidane, following his every movement and expression. It’s a mesmerizing experience, though not one that will easily find a mainstream audience.

Headbutts are all the rage

Seems like headbutts are still all the rage by advertisers. Thank you, Zizou, for the inspiration!

Headbutts are the new fashion. Since the infamous World Cup 2006 incident between Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi, marketing boys from all over the world are trying to cash in on this new phenomenon.

And suddenly Marco Materazzi is a wanted man in the world of advertising. The tough defender who is infamous for his hard and unfair play has marketers from all sorts of companies lining up for his services. Nike just recently shot a commercial with Materazzi as the lead actor. In it Materazzi plays the unstoppable juggernaut. A big wink, of course, to the Zidane headbutt incident.
