From Bloomberg:
Douglas Gordon and Phillipe Parreno are visual artists known for using moving images in their work (Gordon once slowed down Hitchcock’s “Psycho” to make it last 24 hours). So it’s little surprise that “Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait”, featuring French soccer star Zinedine Zidane — is far from a straight sports film.
During a match between Zidane’s Real Madrid club and league rival Villareal, 17 cameras ignored much of the action and focused exclusively on Zidane, following his every movement and expression. It’s a mesmerizing experience, though not one that will easily find a mainstream audience.
