Beckham again left off Madrid squad

Becks is left out yet again of the starting lineup of Real Madrid.

David Beckham was again omitted Saturday when Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello named his squad for a league game with Levante.

It is almost a month since Beckham last appeared for Madrid — as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat at Deportivo La Coruna on Jan. 7 — although he was sidelined for the last two games through injury.

Media reports had suggested that Capello would recall Beckham, who he has dropped since the midfielder announced on Jan. 11 he would join Los Angeles Galaxy in August.

Beckham has signed a five-year deal with the Galaxy, reportedly worth more than US$250 million (€193 million). Madrid had offered Beckham a two-year extension to his current contract, which runs until the end of June.

Beckham is the only member of Madrid’s quartet of star players, nicknamed “The Galacticos”, who still remains at the club. But it seems that there is no benefit staying there any longer. Time to make that move to the Land of the Free, dude!
