There is a beauty, a monumental grace and fluidity, something that is physically, emotionally and spiritually coherent about the game of football when it is played by the great Zinedane Zidane. I don't think this has ever been seen before. I certainly had not seen this in the simple game of football before I saw him play. The so-called "beautiful game" was just a game and sadly it has reverted back to something that is shallow, mundane and uninspiring now that he has gone. Part of Zinedane Zidane's gift was to remind us that sport can be something as inspiring and as uplifting as art which touches the god and the godess in all of us. And for that I thank him!
