By Neil CameronCELTIC’S towering striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has a dream of scoring a Zinedine Zidane goal at Hampden today in homage to the French genius.
But the way things have been going recently, the Dutchman would take a deflected effort from a few yards out, with a hint of offside about it, to beat St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The Celtic striker has always wanted to play at our national stadium which is, after all, one of football’s most famous venues. A fact we in this country seem to have forgotten.
Vennegoor of Hesselink watched Zidane’s super strike in the 2002 European Cup Final - the decisive goal in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen - and since then has fancied having a go at doing the same.
